Sichuan issued a document forbidding illegal transfer of live pigs from outside the province

 

Recently, the Sichuan Provincial Animal Health Supervision Institute issued the notice on forbidding illegal transfer of live pigs from outside the province, emphasizing that:

 

It is strictly prohibited for farms (households) to purchase live pigs with unknown source, no animal quarantine certificate, no African swine fever test report, and no ear mark on the Internet. It is strictly prohibited to smuggle live pigs with vehicles that have not been filed.

 

The pigs allowed to be transferred from outside the province must meet the following conditions: first, they must have the animal quarantine certificate; Second, there are African swine fever detection reports (3-day validity period, 100% detection for breeding pigs and 10% detection for piglets); Third, there are animal ear tags; Fourth, transport vehicles have been registered. And the breeding pigs and piglets transferred from other provinces need to be kept in isolation for 21 days.

In March 2021, four cases of African swine fever have occurred

 

On March 9, 2021, the African pig plague was found in a truck of piglets illegally transported from other provinces at the entrance of Tianchi Expressway in Huaying City, Sichuan Province. At the time of seizure, the vehicle carried 10 piglets, including 2 sick and 2 dead.

 

According to statistics, since the beginning of 2021, a total of 6 non plague cases have been reported, of which 4 occurred on March 9, and 4 of these 6 cases were caused by illegal transportation. Although only 6 cases were officially reported, according to some market feedback, the African swine fever in some regions is actually serious, which also led to the listing of some small and heavy pigs, and the price of piglets has been rising all the way.
